The Arlington/Roe & Co. mail servers impose a limit to large
file size emails.
This limit is intended to discourage the use of large attachments
over email. The limit was chosen to allow small documents to be
transferred over email without difficulty, but to prevent messages
large enough to cause mail system problems.
Email is a very inefficient way of transferring large files.
If you receive a rejection message stating that your email has
exceeded the maximum allowable size, you must decrease the file
size of your email message in order for it to be sent successfully.
Here are a few suggestions to consider when emailing files:
- Keep the attachment as small as possible, using compression
software where possible.
- If you are sending many files, try splitting them up into
smaller emails. This will reduce the impact of sending one large
email.
- If you are unable to successfully send email with an attachment
due to the file size, you may fax us at 317-554-8551.
- Most Internet Service Providers (ISP) impose their own limits.
You may receive errors from your own ISP.
