Gary joined Arlington/Roe as Vice President of Sales in November 2000, as a result of the Cooling Grumme Mumford (CGM) purchase. Prior to joining the agency, Gary worked for Indiana Insurance Company for 18 years holding various underwriting, marketing and management positions. Most recently, as the manager of CGM for the past 4 years, he lead the agency to significant written premium growth in both personal and commercial lines. As a Vice President, Gary works brokering commercial lines business. Gary obtained his CPCU designation in 1990. He also attained the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Associate in Marine Insurance Management (AMIM) and Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI) designations.

Al joined Arlington/Roe in April of 1987. Prior to joining the agency, Al was with the National Association for Mutual Insurance Companies, where he served as Agency Manager. He was involved in the development and marketing of Directors and Officers Insurance, Insurance Companies Professional Liability and Agents' Errors and Omissions. As Executive Vice President for Arlington/Roe, he has the responsibility in both the Professional Liability and Brokerage Departments. As an individual broker, Al specializes in Professional Liability, Commercial Property, Excess Liability, D&O, E&O, and other miscellaneous coverages. Al attended Ball State University; he also served in the United States Air Force, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1971. He is currently a member of the Insurance Advisory Board for Ball State University, Department of Insurance.

Kurt joined Arlington/Roe in July 1995. Prior to joining the agency, he spent over twenty years with CIGNA in various positions; as Underwriting Manager in Louisville, Branch Manager for Wisconsin, Regional U/W Director for IN/OH/KY, and Vice President of Marketing & U/W for Workers' Compensation, Hospitality & Leisure, and Real Estate business units for the midwest region. As Executive Vice President, Kurt is responsible for new marketing initiative as well as managing the Workers' Compensation Department. Kurt is a graduate of Case/Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ruth joined Arlington/Roe in March of 2002. She comes to us with 30 years of underwriting, sales and management experience having worked for several P & C carriers, Hartford, Atlantic Mutual, American States, CNA, and Zurich. She also brings experience, most recently, as an independent agent with her as well. Ruth obtained her CPCU designation in 1981, as well as an AIM, Associate in Management designation in 1985. She also maintains her IIA General Insurance Certificate. Ruth is past President of the Indianapolis Association of Insurance Women, former Chairman of the Underwriting Committee of the Indiana Property Fair Plan, and a former member of the Seminar and Worker’s Compensation Committees of the Insurance Institute of Indiana.

Kurt joined Arlington/Roe in September of 2004 as Vice President. He comes to Arlington Roe with over 22 years of experience in Underwriting. He has worked for several carriers in Indiana including USF&G, CNA, Monroe Guaranty and most recently AmCOMP Assurance. Kurt received his CPCU designation in 1987 and was Central Indiana Chapter President in 1998. He also served on the Indiana Compensation Rating Bureau from 1989-2003 and was chairman in 1994, 1995 and 2003. Kurt is a graduate of Ball State University and has served as a Guest Lecturer for the Ball State Department of Insurance. Kurt will be responsible for brokering commercial lines business as well as assisting the Workers Compensation Department.

Steve joins our brokerage team and is responsible for production of commercial lines business that falls outside the authority of our Commercial Binding Unit. Steve worked for Arlington/Roe prior to his move south to be closer to family. With our two offices in Louisville & Bowling Green, Kentucky and now Nashville, Tennessee, Steve rejoins Arlington/Roe to pick up where he left off. Steve has extensive experience in all Property & Casualty lines, bringing over 35 years experience in the industry. We know many of you will join us in welcoming Steve “home”.

Ernie joined the Geneva, IL branch office of Arlington/Roe in September of 2001. Prior to joining Arlington/Roe, he was with Safeco Select Markets as a Senior Property Underwriter. In addition to substantial experience with major property markets (AIG, Factory Mutuals, Kemper, Northbrook Excess and Surplus), Ernie has a distinguished background in Wholesale Brokerage with Insurance Broker's Service as well as MacAlear. As Senior Account Executive in the Geneva, IL office, Ernie is responsible for the development of property business as well as other lines of business which are based in the Indianapolis, IN office.

Mark joined Arlington/Roe in June of 2004, opening our office in Grand Rapids Michigan. He has worked in the P&C industry since 1985. Prior to joining Arlington Roe & Co, he worked with the Accident Fund Insurance Company of America where he managed multiple regional functions. Prior to that time he held several positions in the TPA and agency side of the business.
Mark will be working to further develop our Michigan relationships as well as growing our book of workers compensation business. He is a graduate of Olivet College and is working toward his CPCU designation.

Karen Stites joined Arlington/Roe in April 2007. Karen attended Western Michigan University majoring in elementary education. She moved to Traverse City in 1974 and began her Insurance career with an independent insurance agency. Karen returned to Kalamazoo in 1977 and began working in surplus lines where she rose in ten years from Underwriting Technician to Vice President. A member of the Certified Insurance Counselor Society, Karen also participates in the Professional Liability Underwriters Society. Married for 33 years, Karen and Rick have two daughters, Courtney and Megan. In Karen’s spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling and golf.
